Christian Ordóñez has been building up a good reputation for himself in Argentina as a solid defensive midfielder. A player who is not afraid of going into challenges and is great at breaking up the play. When watching ordóñez play it is very clear to see that right now he is a defensive midfielder and he is very good at sensing danger from the opposition. He is a good passer but not the best which is highlighted by is 77% pass completion, but many of his passes are not progressive. This is the case for a lot of ball winning midfielders, a lot of what they do is reading danger winning the ball and then providing a pass to a more creative midfielder close by. When his club Vélez sarsfield play in a 4-4-2 formation he is one of the two midfielders or when they play 4-2-3-1 he is one of the two defensive midfielders protecting the back line from danger.

He's been linked with a move to Bologna in Serie A & I believe in order for him to succeed at that level he will need to not only improve on the accuracy of his passing but he needs to improve on the direction of his passes. More forward passes and progressive dribbling is now a requirement for midfielders in the top leagues, but I don't doubt that is is something he will not be able to achieve
