One of the most exciting features about tournaments like the world cup are the players who emerge that weren't as known prior to the tournament. There are always players who use the world stage to introduce themselves on a greater level to the football world. The club world cup is another tournament which has allowed for players to showcase themselves who might not been as popular prior to the tournament. There are a lot of players who've accounted well for themselves in the games played. For me these are three players that I wanted to highlight in this piece that I've been impressed with, players who I believe clubs should be looking at.

Joane Gadou of RB Salzburg

Wesley, 21, Flamengo, Right back

My first time watching Wesley was during the first game of the club world cup & he immediately stood out to me. More of an old school right back who can get forward but is very solid in defence. He was even more superb against Chelsea, keeping their talented wingers quiet throughout the match. He is one to keep an eye out on.

Joane Gadou, 18, RB Salzburg, Center back

A former PSG youth player, Joane Gadou has all the qualities to make it to the top of football. A tall athletic defender, he can glide across the pitch with ease & also fits the modern style of football with his ability to pass out of the back. He is an excellent one-on-one defender & is disciplined in his tackling. When you watch him play it is hard to believe he is still only 18. It won't be long before some of the top clubs in Europe come knocking on his door.

Onuche Ogbelu, 22, ES Tunis, Defensive midfielder

ES Tunis have presented a good showing of themselves at the club world cup & Ogbelu has been the standout performer for me. I was very impressed with his ability to get around the pitch & how he is so good at breaking up play. He was rarely dribbled past & provided much needed protection for the defence. It seemed he was always in the right place at the right time to quell any potential attacks from opponents. Which I believe is more a testament to his football IQ. I don't know how many people may have known about Ogbelu prior to the tournament but he will definitely be on many radars after.

As the tournament moves forward there will be many more more players who will continue to impress & it will be interesting to see how all of their futures unfold!
