The curious case of Oumar Solet

I was watching Udinese play Milan in the Italian Serie A a month & there was one player who kept standing out for me, during the game I said to myself when this game is done I'm going to look more into this player. I took the name & number down of Oumar Solet, during the game vs Milan he was a commanding force, showing up everywhere on the pitch, defending with everything he had while contributing to the attack. I then watched a few more Udinese games to get a real insight on the player. Solet has already played for Red Bull Salzburg making over 50 appearances & many people thought he would make the move to a bigger club after that, things did not materialize that way & he's found himself at Udinese, but make no mistake this is a quality player. An all around ball winner who can play center back in a pair or can play in a three at the back system. He's very comfortable on the ball, carrying the qualities that make modern day defenders successful.

When you watch Solet play you can see why he ranks very highly in defensive actions. A commanding presence, he currently ranks in the 84th percentile for all defenders when it comes to all defensive actions, 82nd percentile in blocks & around 80 for ball recoveries. He's an active all action defender who's also willing to get forward & his progressive passing numbers back this up. Areas of improvement would be discipline in terms of how he carries the ball forward, he can at times get caught up the field & that's an area I think he can improve on if he is to play at a bigger club that will have more structure and systems in place to support any forward runs he makes.

 I believe he could contribute to a club like Manchester United in Ruben Amorim's 3 back system. He's athletic enough to keep up with the demands of the premier league or any other league as he is clearly showing in Serie A & can be a successful signing for many clubs outside of Manchester united.
