There have been a lot of good young center backs coming out of France in recent years. William Saliba, Ibrahim Konaté, & Dayot Upamecano just too name a few. Some french center backs have had to ply their trade outside of France because of how much talent is in the country. The aforementioned Konaté & Upamecano both made their names in the German bundesliga, Maxence Lacroix who is making a name for himself at Crystal Palace in the English premier league is also a player who gained many suitors while playing in Germany.

If he's not already, Kévin Boma should be on your radar of center backs to follow. Standing at a commanding 6'1, Boma's presence is evident in Estoril's back line. Estoril have employed a three back system this season with Boma occupying the RCB position. He's been a constant player in the starting line up this year, helping Estoril to a top half league position. Things that stand out for me watching Boma play are his physicality, strength & his passing. He's very composed on the ball & he doesn't seem to panic, this we all know is a very important trait for a center back to have. He ranks very highly when it comes to defensive actions like blocks, clearances & interceptions. He's very active on the defensive end, his athletic ability allows him to cover a lot of ground on the pitch.

I believe Boma can succeed in a two back system & still be just ass effective. Because of his athleticism & understanding of the game I believe he has the ability to succeed at a high level. He's been linked to Rangers, in Scotland recently. But I don't believe that will be his final stop. Definitely one to keep an eye out for!
