Jhon Lucumí

Jhon Lucumí is a player who I've been impressed with every time I've watched him play for Bologna. With the sale of Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal last summer, it was unclear who was going to fill in his boots in defense for Bologna, but the answer has been Lucumí. Bologna often press their opponents very high, which also involves their midfielder's & fullbacks pushing high up the pitch as well. This in turn results in him having to mark strikers 1 v 1 & he has been superb this year.

He's winning 58.60% of his duels while also only being dribbled past 0.45 times per match which are great numbers considering the amount of times he is left alone in the center of defense when the team pushes forward. Areas of improvement for Lucumí would be his aerial duels, where he currently is winning around 1.56 aerial duels per match or 53.60%. If he can improve in this area very quickly, I believe he will be starting for a top club very soon.
